What is the On Cloudmonster?  This is On’s all out attempt at a max-cushion running shoe featuring their distinctive CloudTec design.

Who is the On Cloudmonster for?  These shoes are for anyone who wants extra cushioning for long runs. They can also serve as daily trainers.

First impressions.  Out of the box, these shoes felt plush, and with a nice amount of roll forward geometry built in. They felt quite springy.

First run.  Copious cushioning but not too soft, plenty of energy return, and a lively transition from heel strike to toe-off.

Second run. This was a long run of 22k. The shoes were comfortable throughout the run, stability was good, grip was excellent. There was no problem with chafing or blisters.

Quality and value for money.  These are premium running shoes as reflected in the price. They appear well-made from quality materials, and perform well.

Final verdict.  The Cloudmonster’s look great, the chunky ‘clouds’ offer great cushioning and performance, the quality is on point.  We rate this running shoe 4 out of 5 stars.
